Can I use my Microsoft Xbox Live Vision Camera as webcam fro my mac?

i plug it in and nothing happens… Can i download a driver or something I’m trying to use it with skype, or yahoo messenger, but nothing is happening, I know there’s a way to use it I just don’t know how? HELP! links! PLEASE! thank you!

What version of Mac OS X do you have? You need at least 10.4.9. If you have Tiger but have never updated it, run Software Update from the Apple menu. Updating to 10.4.11 will be free. You may have to run it a couple times.

If you have gotten your Mac within the last few years, then you should not have a problem. But then again, if you have a Mac from at least a few years ago other than a Mac Pro or Mac Mini, it already has a webcam built in.

If you got your Mac like over five years ago, you may have Panther, which possibly requires some hack or driver to get it working.

Anyhoo, assuming you’ve got the proper version of Mac OS X, you should be able to select what camera you want to use from whatever program you’re in. Eg, in Photo Booth, you will click the Camera menu and choose the Live Vision.

With the launch of the Xbox 360, Xbox Live went through a major change. The most notable change is the establishment of two subscription types, called Silver and Gold. Xbox Live Silver is free to all Xbox 360 owners. While it does not allow access to online play, it still has access to other Xbox Live features such as the friends list, messages, and the Xbox Live Marketplace.
